In January of this year, reports indicated that the second season of the Tamil crime thriller, Suzhal: The Vortex, was anticipated to have a streaming date. Created by Pushkar and Gayatri, the series is set in the fictional village of Sambaloor and features a cast that includes Kathir, Parthiban R, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Shriya Reddy, among others. Although it was suggested that the series would return on February 21, this date had not been officially confirmed by the creators or the streaming service.

Suzhal: The Vortex Season 2 to drop on Amazon Prime Video on...

Recently, Pushkar and Gayatri announced via social media the return of Suzhal: The Vortex for its second season. Expressing gratitude for the audience's support of Season 1, the creative team revealed that Season 2 would premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 28.

The official synopsis for Season 2 reveals that a well-known lawyer and activist, who had previously defended Nandini (Aishwarya Rajesh), is discovered murdered. Sakkarai (Kathir) is summoned to aid the grieving family. Set against the vibrant backdrop of the Ashtakaali Festival in the picturesque town of Kaalipattanam, the investigation gradually uncovers long-buried secrets that loom over the present.

Directed by Bramma G and Anucharan Murugaiyan, Season 1 of Suzhal: The Vortex focused on a police investigation into a missing person case. The narrative unfolds within a community that venerates Goddess Angalamman and celebrates the Mayana Kollai festival over a span of ten days each year. It is during this period that the story, encompassing themes of kidnapping, arson, and childhood trauma, develops.

Season 1 comprised eight episodes, each lasting between 40 to 50 minutes, and Season 2 is expected to maintain a similar format. The show, which also featured actors such as Harish Uthaman, Prem Kumar, Elango Kumaravel, and Nivedithaa Sathish, will see the addition of Malayalam actors Lal and Manjima Mohan, along with Monisha Blessy and Samyuktha Vishwanathan. Sam CS will return as the music director.
