Suriya’s Kanguva: Makers to rework the sound design; sequel gets wilder and bigger?

Kanguva, the period fantasy film which features Suriya in the lead role, hit the theatres on November 14, 2024. The movie, directed by Siva, has been receiving negative reviews from both the audiences and critics. The outdated modern-day portions and loud sound design made Kanguva a forgettable theatrical experience for the cinephiles. However, producer KE Gnanavel Raja recently confirmed the team’s plans to rework the sound mixing and revealed that Kanguva 2 is being made on a bigger scale.
Kanguva team to rework on the sound mixing
In a recent interaction with the Telugu media, Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel Raja addressed the criticisms of the film’s unbearably loud sound design. The producer, who defended music composer Devi Sri Prasad, revealed that it is not the issue with his tunes. According to Gnanavel Raja, it is the sound mixing of the film, that went wrong. He further confirmed that the Kanguva team is planning to rework the sound mixing of the film and tone down the volume.
Kanguva 2 to be made on a bigger scale
KE Gnanavel Raja, who remarked that the Suriya starrer is performing extremely well at the box office, confirmed that Kanguva 2 is very much on the cards. According to the producer, the Siva directorial has been receiving positive reviews, and only the first 20 minutes of the film are being criticized. The makers are planning to make the second installment much wilder, on a bigger scale and budget. The producer also added that the movie will soon emerge as Suriya’s highest-grossing film, in a couple of days.
Suriya delivered a decent performance as Kanguva, a tribal warrior, and Francis, a modern-age bounty hunter. Disha Patani makes a blink-and-miss appearance as Angelina, while Bobby Deol is wasted as the generic villain, Uthiran. Karthi, the popular actor and younger brother of Suriya, has made a cameo appearance in the Siva directorial climax, as Rathaangasan, who is reincarnated as Commander Ryan. The Meiyazhagan actor is expected to have a full-fleged role in the upcoming Kanguva sequel, which is expected to go on floors in 2026.
