Fans of Tamil cinema woke up to bad news on Saturday, hearing that demise of young director Suresh Sangaiah. The filmmaker died during the late hours of Friday, at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Chennai. He died due to liver failure and is survived by his wife and two children.

A former assistant of director M Manikandan, and assisted him in Kaaka Muttai, Suresh Sangaiah made his debut feature with the 2017 film Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu. Suresh Sangaiah made his directorial debut with Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu, which released in 2017. Starring Vidharth in the lead role, the film is available for streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. The film revolves around a man and his family who are on their way to sacrifice a goat in a temple. However, they witness a road accident and try to evade the police probe. Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu opened to positive responses upon its release with critics praising the film. It also stars Raveena Ravi, George Maryan, and others.

Suresh Sangaiah’s final film Sathya Sothanai on OTT

Suresh Sangaiah’s untimely demise, made his sophomore directorial Sathya Sothanai as his last film. It released in 2023 and is available for streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium. Starring Premgi Amaren, Swayam Siddha, Reshma Pasupuleti, and G. Gnanasambandam, among others, the drama film revolves around a man who witnesses a dead body along with jewels. He goes to surrender the jewels to the police with the right intention, but the officials refuse to understand his noble intentions.

Suresh Sangaiah had announced his third project with Yogi Babu, and was supposed to have direct OTT release through Disney+ Hotstar. However, the project remains unfinished due to the director’s demise.
