We have spent the past two years in anticipation of a Superman movie, the drama around the exit of the former Superman (Henry Cavill), and everything in between. While we still await the release of James Gunn’s directorial that kick-starts DCU’s live-action world, we are now finally getting a nostalgia trip from the same studio on Max (HBO Max). The studio has been making headlines for Super/Man: The Christopher Reeves Story for a while. The documentary is based on the life of the OG Superman who made Clark Kent iconic in the world of live-action. The streamer has now announced the release date, and below is everything you should know about the show.

Acquired by the studio at the Sundance Film Festival, where the documentary received very good reviews with a 98 percent thumbs-up, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeves Story has been making news ever since. With a limited theatrical run and an exclusive PVOD window, the documentary is finally all set to make its way to the streaming world. As per the latest announcement, the show is all set to hit HBO Max on December 7, 2024. This means in India, the documentary will be available on the same day on JioCinema. What Is Super/Man: The Christopher Reeves Story?

The documentary features personal archives and never-before-seen footage of actor and activist Christopher Reeves, who played the Man of Steel in the 1978 Superman movie. He continued to play the part in Superman II in 1980, Superman III in 1983, and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace in 1987. The teaser shared today introduced us to a completely new Reeves, who is also charming without the Kryptonian suit.

Super/Man is illustrated with a gamut of film clips, including the Superman franchise and all the other film roles that Christopher Reeves made iconic. It also includes a lot of personal archival material, featuring the first-ever extended interviews with his children, his brothers, and his first wife, Gae Exton. Susan Sarandon, Glenn Close, Whoopi Goldberg, Jeff Daniels, and Superman producer Pierre Spengler, who were his close friends, have also contributed to the documentary.
