Sunny Deol’s Jaat Eyes Weekend Surge After Promising Start at the Box Office
12 days ago | 5 Views
Action drama Jaat made quite an impression on its opening day, raking in an impressive ₹9.62 crore nett across India on Thursday. The film was strategically released to coincide with the partial Mahavir Jayanti holiday, and despite having limited advance bookings, it managed to deliver a robust first-day performance, largely thanks to last-minute ticket sales and a strong turnout in mass markets.
Although it had a slow start in urban multiplexes, Jaat gained traction as the day progressed, particularly in single-screen theaters in North India and central regions. The late start of ticket bookings, which only opened on Wednesday, led to modest expectations of around ₹7 crore. However, enthusiastic walk-ins and positive word-of-mouth at the grassroots level helped the film exceed those initial forecasts.
The film's success on opening day can be attributed to its strong appeal in smaller cities and towns. While the response in metropolitan areas has been tepid, there’s significant potential for growth in multiplexes outside major cities in the coming days. With Baisakhi happening over the weekend and Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday, Jaat has a prime opportunity to boost its earnings during this extended four-day period.
Friday might see a slight decline due to regular work schedules, but industry experts are hopeful for a strong recovery over the weekend. If Jaat continues to draw in its target audience, it could be on track for a solid first week, solidifying its status as a hit in the mass-market segment.
