Sundeep Kishan on Mazaka: A Comedy Like No Other
18 days ago | 5 Views
Sundeep Kishan's latest movie, Mazaka, is set to release on February 26, 2025. The skilled actor shares insights about his character, reflects on his 15-year journey in the industry, discusses his involvement in major OTT projects, and hints at what's coming next. Check out the full conversation.
What led you to pick Mazaka after doing a heavy film like Raayan?
Lately, not just Raayan, but my recent films have been pretty serious. I wanted to find a script that would appeal to families. That’s when I connected with Trinadha Rao and writer Prasanna Kumar, who brought me the script for Mazaka. The mix of comedy and the heartfelt father-son dynamic really caught my attention, so I jumped on board immediately. You could say Mazaka is my wildest comedy in a long time, and I think everyone will enjoy my performance in it.
Share some details about your character in Mazaka?
I take on the character of Krishna, who lives with his dad, portrayed by Rao Ramesh. We're both single, and the plot follows our unexpected journey to find love, along with the wild situations that get us into hot water. The trailer might seem straightforward, but Mazaka is full of twists that will blow the audience away.
What was it like collaborating with Rao Ramesh?
Rao Ramesh is a really experienced actor, and working on a comedy film with him can be quite a challenge. He’s super spontaneous and loves to improvise, which definitely keeps us alert. But since comedy is one of my strong suits, I was able to keep up with his vibe without any trouble. It’s been a while since I’ve done a full-on comedy, and I’m sure everyone is going to enjoy it!
Mazaka seems like your average commercial movie. So, what sets it apart?
Director Trinadha Rao has added a cool, contemporary spin to the film that you'll really get once you see it in theaters. The way the comedy pops up throughout keeps Mazaka a total laugh fest with endless fun.
You’re looking for a major success in Telugu cinema. How sure are you feeling about Mazaka?
We just finished watching the whole movie, and I really believe Mazaka is going to meet all the expectations. With Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, the Telugu audience showed once again that a good story, no matter how straightforward, can draw crowds to the theaters. I think Mazaka will have the same effect.
You've been in the film industry for 15 years now. How do you look back on your journey?

I truly believe the best is still ahead of me. With age, I've gained a deeper insight into filmmaking and the types of projects I want to pursue. No other hero in Tollywood has brought as many directors to the forefront as I have. I've stumbled and encountered setbacks, but those experiences have taught me valuable lessons. Now that I have a clearer grasp of the industry, you can expect to see me taking on a wider range of roles moving forward.
Can you share some details about your movie featuring Vijay's son, Sanjay
I’m really pumped about this project! It’s a fresh action drama that’s also going to be available in Telugu. Sanjay, our young director, is super confident, and we’ve already kicked off filming. I think the way we’re presenting the film is going to blow the audience away.
How are your upcoming OTT projects looking?
I've got two OTT series set to drop in 2025. Netflix is launching its first Telugu web series, Super Subbu, where I’m taking on the lead role. It’s a wild comedy, and I bet it’ll get everyone talking when it comes out. Plus, I’ve wrapped up my shoot for Family Man 3, where I also play one of the main characters. Looks like 2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for me in the OTT world.
