Actor Mirchi Shiva, recognized for his appearances in movies such as Thamizh Padam, Vanakkam Chennai, and Kasethan Kadavulada, is preparing for the debut of his upcoming film, Sumo. Set to be released in theaters on April 25, the movie is helmed by SP Hosimin..
Filming in Japan cost a lot of moneySumo is a sports comedy movie that features real-life sumo wrestler Yoshinori Tashiro, alongside Priya Anand, VTV Ganesh, and others. Regarding the film, Shiva stated, “Initially, myself along with VTV Ganesh sir, Rajiv Menon, and Hosimin sir traveled to Japan to seek a local agency that could assist us with sumo casting. This is the first feature film from India that will include a sumo wrestler. At the agency, we encountered a large individual (Yoshinori Tashiro), and we requested him to try on the costume. When we asked about his dietary preferences, a voice from within shouted Butter Chicken, and we discovered that his reason for coming to India is to enjoy that dish. ”
The Sumo team filmed a sort of trailer with Yoshinori and forwarded the video to Ishari Ganesh, who is producing the film. “He encouraged us to proceed with the film after watching the video, without even knowing the story and narration. He placed tremendous trust in us, particularly since the film is costly and requires filming in Japan,” he adds.

Shiva is thrilled about the summer release, even with the delays
An entertainer, Sumo centers around a sumo wrestler from Japan who washes up on a beach in Chennai and ends up consuming everything at a nearby restaurant. Shiva portrays the role of a surfer and a restaurant waiter. “The characters will engage in some antics with the sumo and generate revenue before realizing that they also need to do something for him in return. After learning about him, the protagonists attempt to assist him in returning home. ”
Despite the film taking seven years to be released, Shiva is thrilled that Sumo is receiving an ideal summer debut, allowing children to view and enjoy it. “He (Yoshinori) had informed us that he visited a Shiva temple in Japan where the priest stated he has the blessings of Shiva and Ganesh. We had no idea that he would be collaborating with me, and Ganesh (Ishari Ganesh and VTV Ganesh),” Shiva reminisces.
