The past two weeks have been all about witnessing the monstrous box office run that Stree 2 has been having at the domestic box office. The movie, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, has turned out to be a game-changer for the Maddock Supernatural Universe. It successfully established itself as a lucrative franchise that has indeed brought in significant earnings. As we continue our routine of waking up and checking Stree 2’s box office status, only to be amazed, the film remains steady in its numbers. Although it has finally taken the single-digit route this week, it has been consistently earning between Rs 7 to 9 crore. It turns out that day 16 also managed to keep the momentum going. 

Stree 2 Box Office Update

No one could have predicted the historic run that Stree 2 was about to have. The movie, which is the fifth in the franchise after Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, and Munja, managed to draw unprecedented footfalls and became the ninth highest-earning film of all time, dethroning Baahubali. However, the theatrical run hasn’t ended and still continues as the movie remains on the big screen. Now, Stree 2 stands just a step away from Rs 450 crore and is also inching slowly towards the Rs 500 crore mark. To put things into perspective, Stree 2’s slow steps are giant leaps compared to some other films.

On the 16th day of its theatrical run, Stree 2 managed to remain consistent with its box office collection. According to Sacnilk, the movie has managed to earn Rs 7.75 crore as per early estimates. This brings the total collection of the movie to Rs 440.80 crore. This means that if the film manages to pull off another good weekend, it may cross the Rs 450 crore mark today.

In this way, the movie is now on its journey to the glorious Rs 500 crore milestone. Stree 2 has been busy breaking and setting new records ever since its release. If the movie has a good Sunday and a strong couple of days next week, it could cross the Rs 500 crore milestone very soon. This feat will indeed establish the horror-comedy genre in a much bigger way.

Stree 2 Leaves Behind Baahubali: The Beginning

Baahubali: The Beginning became a box office phenomenon upon its release in 2015. The movie, which had held the ninth position among the highest-earning films in India for almost a decade, has now been dethroned by Stree 2. As per calculations, Stree 2, with its Rs 424.05 crore collection (on day 14), has surpassed Prabhas' magnum opus, which earned Rs 421 crore in its lifetime. This means Stree 2 now holds the ninth position on the list of highest-earning movies in India.
