After a successful run in its first week, Stree 2 is still holding on. The movie, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, has shown steady performance at the Box Office. The film has minted Rs. 20 crores on Janmashtami holiday. This takes the movie’s collection to over Rs. 420 crores so far. Here’s the breakup…

First week breakup

In the first week, Stree 2 minted nearly Rs. 300 crores. The movie earned Rs. 8.5 crores in paid previews, held on Wednesday (day 0), then minting Rs. 51.8 crores on its opening day Thursday (also Independence Day), and Rs. 31.4 crores on Friday (the only working day in what otherwise was a long weekend). Over the weekends, it minted Rs. 43.85 crores and Rs. 55.9 crores respectively, according to Sacnilk. On its first Monday (Raksha Bandhan), the movie earned Rs. 38.1 crores. It then minted Rs. 25.8 crores on its first Tuesday, Rs. 19.5 crores on first Wednesday and Rs. 16.8 crores on second Thursday.

Second week breakup

Stree 2 minted Rs. 19.30 crores on its second Friday, followed by earning Rs. 33.80 crores and Rs. 40.75 crores over its second weekend. The movie crossed Rs. 400 crore mark over the weekend itself, and on Monday, it earned Rs. 20.20 crores more, as shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. It is to be noted that Monday was partial holiday owing to the Indian festival of Janmashtami. Thus, the total collections of the Amar Kaushik directorial, also starring Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in pivotal roles with Akshay Kumar in a cameo appearance, is Rs. 421.85 crores.

Stree 2 heading towards Rs. 500 crores

Although Rs. 20 crores are lower in comparison to what Stree 2 has earned over the first week, if one takes into consideration that it was the second week and the trends have suggested that the movie picks up most over the weekends, then the film has fared well at the Box Office on Monday. It is now closer to Rs. 425 crores, and in a few days (or within the next two days), it will mint Rs. 450 crores. Given that Stree 2 has no direct competition for a long time to come, the Box Office collections for the film are likely to rise again over the weekend. Thus, there’s a high chance that Stree 2 will mint Rs. 500 crores easily before the end of this week. If it does, the movie has a chance of beating Kalki 2898 AD both in the Indian markets and across the globe.
