Big box office clashes are now fewer and far between compared to the pre-pandemic era when they were major events that drew crowds to movie theaters. One of the biggest and most lucrative release windows of the year is just a day away, and the world is eagerly awaiting it. After a long time, there is a three-way box office clash on the Hindi cinema front, featuring some of the biggest stars. Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, John Abraham’s Vedaa, and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 are all set to clash at the box office tomorrow. However, as expected, the film leading the way in advance bookings and predictions is the Rajkummar Rao-led Stree 2, which has generated immense excitement. 

Stree 2 Leads the Pack

Stree 2 has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year for several reasons. It is a direct sequel to the 2018 release Stree, which established the horror universe backed by Maddock Films. The movie promises to solve many mysteries and introduce new stories into the mix. So far, the makers have focused on song-based promotions, revealing quite a bit. Varun Dhawan is rumored to reprise his role as Bhediya, and there are hints of a Munjya tease. All of this has contributed to strong box office projections.

Reports now suggest that Stree 2 is poised to be the winner among Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. The film, releasing on August 15, 2024, alongside the other two, is predicted to have the biggest opening, outpacing the movies with massive stars. According to a report by The Indian Express, if the current momentum continues, Stree 2 could easily secure an opening of around Rs 40 crore.

The Holiday Advantage

It's also important to note that all three movies are released on a bank holiday, which is a Thursday. This gives them an advantage with an extra day in the opening weekend, likely boosting earnings. As of the last update, Stree 2 had already sold 2.2 lakh tickets across the country, with Mumbai and Delhi contributing the most. This pre-release collection has already brought in Rs 7 crore, indicating the high anticipation for the movie. The 2018 film earned Rs 180 crore worldwide.
