Director Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai - Part 2 is set to premiere in theatres on December 20. Featuring performances by Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, and a talented ensemble cast, this film serves as the sequel to the director's 2023 period action drama, Viduthalai: Part 1.
A week prior to the film's release, the producers announced that the first instalment will be available for free streaming on ZEE5 starting December 13. Viduthalai: Part 1 features Soori in his first leading role, portraying a rookie police officer assigned to apprehend the leader of a grassroots movement opposing the police. The film includes a cameo by Vijay Sethupathi, whose character is anticipated to have a more significant presence in the sequel.
Upon its release, Viduthalai: Part 1 received a favourable response, with particular praise for Soori's performance. Subsequently, the actor has taken on leading roles in films such as Garudan and Kottukkaali. The cast also includes Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, Chetan, Munnar Ramesh, and Pavel Navageethan, with the musical score composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film is adapted from B. Jeyamohan's story, Thunaivan.

Viduthalai: Part 2 is set to be released on December 20. ZEE5 has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for the film, which will be available on the platform following its theatrical release.
In addition to the returning cast, the sequel will feature new actors including Manju Warrier, Kishore, Samuthirakani, Bose Venkat, Vincent Ashokan, and Anurag Kashyap, among others. The film is produced by Elred Kumar, with cinematography handled by R. Velraj. The editing is done by R Ramar, and the art direction is managed by Jacki.
