The world is still busy celebrating the revival of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Deadpool & Wolverine has not only brought back footfall but also set the ball rolling for the studio and its future projects, with fans once again eager to learn more about them. Shawn Levy, the director of the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer, has been the talk of the town, and now there's yet another reason for him to be trending. While the film continues to rake in big money, the director has moved on to his next project, which is as significant as his Marvel movie. Levy has returned to the set of Stranger Things and confirmed this with a post.

Shawn Levy Returns To Stranger Things

For those unaware, Shawn Levy has been involved with Stranger Things since the very first season. The filmmaker has served as the executive producer for all four released seasons and is also working on the fifth. He has directed a total of eight episodes of the show and previously revealed that he would return for season 5 as well. Now, it turns out he’s back on set, behind the camera to direct once again, and he announced this with a very intriguing Instagram post. Read on to know more.

Shawn Levy shared a picture on his official Instagram handle, writing, "Back in Hawkins, running up that hill again." The filmmaker confirmed his return to the set of Stranger Things season 5 with a series of photos. The pictures include Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) and Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley) in the first one. The rest showcase various parts of the set, with some even featuring Levy himself, deeply engrossed in his work.

"Being a director every season on Stranger Things is a gift to me," Shawn Levy previously said, according to Comicbook, while discussing his return to the show as a director for season 5. "It's part of my spiritual brotherhood with the Duffers, and you better believe I'm going to step in and play my dual role as producer and director for a chunk of season 5 as well."

Matt Duffer on Stranger Things Season 5

Meanwhile, Matt Duffer, one half of the Duffer Brothers, recently shared how season 5 of Stranger Things will mirror the first season. He described the fifth season as “season 1 on steroids.” Duffer told The Guardian, "It's the biggest it's ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun because everyone's back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more, in line with how it was in season one. And yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, and Hopper—their stories are done here."

Stranger Things season 5 is currently in production, though no release date has been announced yet.
