Sanju Weds Geetha, a Kannada romantic drama featuring Srinagara Kitty and Ramya in the leading roles, achieved significant box office success in 2011 and earned Ramya the Karnataka State Best Actress award. The film concluded on a tragic note, with both protagonists meeting their demise. Consequently, the announcement of a sequel by director Nagshekar, featuring Kitty once again in the lead role, has generated considerable intrigue.

A pertinent question arises: is Sanju Weds Geetha 2 a true sequel, or has the director merely utilized the original title for its nostalgic appeal? “That is the surprise element of the film; I believe Part 2 is better than Part 1,” Nagshekar stated during a press conference following the completion of principal photography. In this installment, he has cast Dimple Queen Rachita Ram to star opposite Kitty. The ensemble also includes Ragini Dwivedi, Chetan Chandra, Sadhu Kokila, and Rangayana Raghu. Reports indicate that Kitty portrays a silk farmer in this new narrative.

The film, originally scheduled for theatrical release in April of the previous year, has experienced delays and is now prepared for its debut. Nagshekar has confirmed that Sanju Weds Geetha 2 will compete in the Sankranti/Pongal box office race. The film is set to premiere on January 10, 2025. Currently, Sharan’s horror comedy Choo Mantar is the other Kannada film contending for box office success during the inaugural festival of the new year.

Sanju Weds Geetha 2, according to Nagshekar, is a film tailored for contemporary viewers. This musical romance, as the director emphasizes, will significantly rely on the compositions by Sridhar V Sambhram and the cinematography by Sathya Hegde. The film was completed in 72 days, filmed in various locations in Bengaluru, including a segment shot in Switzerland. It has been produced by Chalapathy Kumar in partnership with Nagashekar Movies, Pavithra International Movies, and Mahaanandi Creations.
