What's next for Spider-Man?
As reported by Variety, Sony unveiled the title of the fourth installment during its CinemaCon event on Monday. Although Tom Holland was unable to attend the convention, he shared a video message discussing the upcoming film.
“I apologize for not being there with you. I’m currently on the other side of the world filming another project. I know we left you with a significant cliffhanger at the conclusion of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day represents a fresh beginning. That’s all I can disclose at this moment. I’ve been instructed not to reveal too much, and I assure you, I won’t spoil anything today,” stated Tom, who will next appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey alongside Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway.
The third installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, released in 2021, concluded with Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, inadvertently shattering the multiverse and opting to erase his identity from public knowledge.
Details regarding the plot of the fourth film remain undisclosed, but it is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
More about the fourth part
During the convention, director Destin Daniel Cretton took the stage to discuss the film for the first time. He remarked, “I’m dedicating my time to exploring the next chapter of this incredible character alongside a team of the most talented artists in the industry. Each day, we are enthusiastically delving into the suit, the mechanics of swinging, and crafting an emotional narrative and experience that we haven’t truly witnessed before.”
Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, who portray Peter Parker's close friends MJ and Ned, are anticipated to reprise their roles in the upcoming fourth installment. Additionally, Sadie Sink has been added to the cast, although specifics regarding her character have yet to be revealed. There is speculation that she may take on the role of X-Men mutant Jean Grey, a character previously depicted by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man films have achieved remarkable success at the box office. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017) earned $880 million, "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019) amassed $1.13 billion, and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" emerged as the first major blockbuster following the pandemic, grossing $1.9 billion worldwide.
