Spider-Man 4 to be reportedly delayed; what does this mean for Avengers: Secret Wars? Find out
2 hours ago | 5 Views
It is becoming nearly impossible to keep track of every rumor and possible update about your favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Spider-Man 4 is especially a favorite of the rumor mill, and in the past few weeks, we have heard so much about the project that it has become one of the most anticipated movies right now. The release is, of course, not even remotely near, and still, fans have been looking at Kevin Feige with curious eyes to know any update that he can drop. For months, we have read how the studio has been prepping to place the movie right between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which made the July 2026 release more logical. But if the latest rumor is to be believed, it seems like the Tom Holland starrer might get delayed from its July release. But what does that mean for Secret Wars?
Spider-Man 4 Might Get Delayed?
For the unversed, Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will be a multiversal movie set in the aftermath of Doomsday and will lead to Secret Wars with whatever happens in it. So technically, for Secret Wars to see the light of day, Spider-Man 4 will have to be released. But now, as per Jeff Sneider, who spoke on the Hot Mix podcast, it feels like production delays will affect everything and, in turn, push the release date beyond July 2026.
He said, "I'm under the impression that ['Spider-Man 4'] would go in the second half of the year. Sounds like if it does [...] I keep hearing 'Spider-Man 4' may have been pushed to like, end of 2025, early 2026. I don't see a world in which it makes that release date in 2026 in the summer. So, I'm hearing that something's up with 'Spider-Man 4''s date, and that that may be pushed ahead some months."
Technically, if the reported plan is true, Avengers: Secret Wars cannot be released before Spider-Man 4. This means Spider-Man 4 will have to make it to the big screen before May 7, 2027, when Secret Wars is scheduled to release. If the delay in the Tom Holland starrer is significant, it could be pushed by many months, affecting the timeline of the complete calendar leading to Avengers: Secret Wars. However, the gap between Spider-Man 4 and Secret Wars is 10 months, so maybe the studio might also cover up the delay and not let the Endgame of the Multiverse Saga suffer.
Spider-Man 4 New Rumored Title & Plot
As per the latest Production Weekly listing, which has also turned out to be a hoax in the past, Spider-Man 4 might be titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While Destin Daniel Cretton is listed as the director of the film, Andrew Garfield, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, and more have been rumored as part of the cast. The synopsis, however, is even more intriguing, considering the ongoing mystery about whether the movie will be a street-level story or a multiverse-level one.
The synopsis for Spider-Man 4 reads: "Following the events of Doomsday, Peter Parker is determined to lead a normal life and focus on college, stepping back from responsibilities as Spider-Man. However, peace is short-lived when a deadly new threat emerges, endangering his friends and forcing Peter to reconsider his promise. With stakes higher than ever, Peter reluctantly returns to his Spider-Man identity and finds himself teaming up with an unlikely ally to protect those he loves."
As of now, Spider-Man 4 is set to hit the big screen on July 24, 2026. Stay tuned to Mobile Masala for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
