The world has been completely invested in everything happening in the MCU, and the excitement feels reminiscent of the pre-Avengers: Endgame era. With the release of Deadpool & Wolverine spreading like wildfire at the box office, and Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, the franchise has garnered all the attention. However, one project that was noticeably absent from the Marvel Hall H event at San Diego Comic-Con left fans disappointed: the Tom Holland-starrer Spider-Man 4. Over the past few months, there have been numerous rumors about the movie, but no concrete updates. However, it seems Marvel is secretly making space for the movie in 2026 if the latest reports are accurate. 

Spider-Man 4 Gets One of the Mystery Dates?

For the unversed, after the massive announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios has gotten into the groove, working around the clock. The studio has also updated its release calendar as per the new schedule, but that doesn't mean there are no more secrets. Observant fans of the MCU were quick to notice that the studio has left two dates vacant in 2026 for two mystery projects with no single hint about what they are. Fans are now assuming one of those dates belongs to Spider-Man 4. Read on to know everything you should about the same.

To give you an idea, while the studio has all the confirmed projects on the calendar, including Fantastic Four: First Steps, Thunderbolts, Avengers: Doomsday, and even Blade (scheduled for its original 2025 release window), it has removed the untitled project from July 24, 2026. In its place, the studio has introduced two new untitled movies: one before Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for May 1, 2026, and one after it. The dates are February 13, 2026, and November 6, 2026. Fans are now convinced that one of these is for Spider-Man 4.

To substantiate this claim, we have already heard how important Peter Parker is for Avengers: Secret Wars, which sits at the end of Phase 6 in 2027. It is clear that the fourth Spidey movie will have to release before Secret Wars. Additionally, MCU oral history scribe Joanna Robinson recently revealed in her conversation with NPR that Sony legally has to start production on Spider-Man 4 by September 17, 2025, and release the movie by September 17, 2027. This timeline puts Spider-Man 4 before Avengers: Secret Wars.

Kevin Feige on Spider-Man 4 Progress

Kevin Feige has been busy dropping some big revelations and announcements in the past couple of weeks. The Marvel President, who recently revealed Jon Watts is no longer attached to the project, also spoke about Spider-Man 4. "Amy [Pascal] and I are working on it. We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon,” Kevin said. While this makes it clear that it is still far from entering production, the work is ongoing, and that is enough confirmation for now.
