On Wednesday, IMDb unveiled its list of the Most Popular Indian Movies of 2024. Prabhas and Deepika Padukone's film, Kalki 2898 AD, claimed the top position, followed by Stree 2 in second place and Maharaja in third.
Filmmaker Nag Ashwin expressed his joy regarding his film's achievement as the leading movie of the year. This accolade reflects the affection and support of our wonderful audience, who welcomed the film with enthusiasm. We invested our hearts into this project, and it is incredibly gratifying to see it resonate with viewers of all ages globally.”
Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan's Shaitaan secured the fourth position, while Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan's Fighter took the fifth spot on the list.
The compilation features seven Hindi films, along with one each from Telugu (Kalki 2898 AD), Tamil (Maharaja), and Malayalam (Manjummel Boys at sixth place).
The inclusion of three sequels—Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (seventh position), and Singham Again (ninth position)—highlights the audience's enthusiasm for established franchises. Raghav Juyal’s Kill is positioned eighth, and Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies rounds out the list at tenth.
Deepika notably appeared in three films included in the list: Fighter, Kalki 2898-AD, and Singham Again.
The year-end compilation is derived from the genuine page views of over 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb globally. It highlights films released in India from January 1 to November 25, 2024, that possess an average IMDb user rating of 5 or above.
