Soumitrisha Kundu to debut on OTT and here is what we know | Exclusive

Mithai is so passe. Soumitrisha Kundu who became a household name with Zee Bangla’s one of the longest-running shows Mithai had a gala debut on the big screen opposite none other than Dev in Pradhan. Directed by Avijit Sen, the film was one of the biggest box-office successes that year. Now, the actress is all set for her OTT debut.

Soumitrisha to debut on a thriller 

According to sources, Soumitrisha will be seen in a thriller. Ayan Chakrabarti, whose Nikhonj with Swastika Mukherjee and Tota Roy Chowdhury was lauded by viewers and critics alike, will direct the show, Kalratri. It is nothing short of a casting coup and will also feature Indrasish Roy, Anujoy Chatterjee, Rajdeep Gupta, Debesh Chattopadhyay, Rupanjana Maitra, and others. The shooting will start on September 11 and will go on till October 4. Subhadeep B Guha will compose the music. Ramyadip Saha will work as the DOP.

About Soumitrisha's new project 

The working title of the series is Kalratri. According to sources, it is a thriller that will delve into a wedding. Kalratri is a traditional Hindu ritual that marks the night immediately after the wedding day. Ayan has penned the script. Interestingly, Hoichoi’s other thriller that delves into the genre of thriller connected to a wedding is Indu. Led by Ishaa Saha, the series will soon have its third season. 

On the other hand, the shooting of Nikhonj part 2 was over and the show is expected to be dropped in October. However, there could be a delay as Kolkata is currently witnessing a massive protest against the rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. It has already been a month and the uproar is still on. Two web series, Hoichoi’s Parineeta, and Zee5’s Kantaaye Kantaaye, were released in this period and failed to make a mark.
