RJ Balaji the multi-faceted talent has shown immense growth as an artist over the years. The actor-turned-filmmaker is set to kickstart the shooting of his next directorial venture – actor Suriya’s 45th film, in November 2024. Meanwhile, RJ Balaji is also set to surprise the audiences with his new dimension as an actor, in the upcoming film Sorgavaasal. The actor-director is teaming up with debutant director Sidharth Viswanath for the film, which is touted to be a period thriller.
RJ Balaji’s Sorgavaasal based on a real-life incident?
Recently, the makers of Sorgavaasal surprised the audiences by revealing the first look poster of the film, featuring leading man RJ Balaji and others, on social media. The actor-filmmaker, who is best known for his impeccable comic timing, has shed his signature avatar for the film, which features him in an intense look. If the recent updates are to be believed, the Sidharth Viswanath directorial is based on a spine-chilling real-life incident that happened at the Centra Jail of Chennai, during the late 1990s.
In the first look poster, which is now winning the internet, RJ Balaji is seen in a common man’s avatar, holding a slate that mentions his prisoner number and the year, 1999. “His paradise is just a few yards away! Will he make it through? Come and Witness the Greatest Battle of Cunning Minds and Innocent Hearts!” wrote the production banner Think Studios, as it released the first look poster on social media.
When it comes to Sorganvaasal team, director Sidharth Viswanath is a former directorial assistant of acclaimed filmmaker, Pa Ranjith. The director has also co-written the film, along with Thamizh Prabha and Ashwin Ramachandran. Bramayugam music director Christo Xavier is making his Tamil cinema debut, by composing the music score to the film. Prince Anderson is the director of photorgaphy. Selva RK handles the editing. The project is jointly produced by Swipe Right Studios and Think Studios.
