Sonu Sood is stepping into the director's chair for the first time with his action-thriller, Fateh. The trailer just dropped, showcasing some intense action scenes featuring Sonu battling masked foes. Some folks have already started comparing it to Ranbir Kapoor's Animal. In a recent chat with India Today, Sonu acknowledged that they were aware people might see similarities between Fateh and Animal, but there were some practical challenges that influenced the action scenes.

Sonu Sood talks about how Fateh stacks up against Animal

Sonu Sood shared that he really enjoyed the action scenes in Animal. He praised Ranbir, saying, "He did an amazing job." He also mentioned that the similarities in the scenes were due to technical requirements.

We brought on about 70 to 80 fighters for a few big action scenes, and in one shot, my character takes out 70 of them. The issue was, we didn’t have enough fighters left for the other scenes, so we had to get creative," Sonu explained. He noted that since we had already shown the fighters' faces, we decided to bring them back but with masks on.

Sood also added, "We knew some might think it looked like Animal, but it was really just a technical necessity." He pointed out that it wasn’t easy to find replacements quickly since the fighters were from Mexico and South Africa. For the Fateh actor, reusing the same fighters was the most sensible option.

Fateh: A Closer Look

Fateh, which is both written and directed by Sonu Sood, is set to hit theaters on January 10, 2025. Sood also takes on a leading role in the film, sharing the screen with Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, Naseeruddin Shah, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and more.

The movie, produced by Sood and Umesh KR Bansal, tells the story of an ex-special ops officer named Fateh. He enjoys a quiet life in Punjab until a village girl becomes a victim of a cybercrime ring.
