Sky Force Soars: Akshay Kumar's Aerial Action Film Hits ₹61.75 Cr in Just Three Days

2 months ago | 5 Views

The aerial action film Sky Force, featuring Akshay Kumar alongside newcomer Veer Pahariya, experienced a significant surge in performance following a lackluster start. Remarkably, the film demonstrated impressive growth during its first weekend, particularly on Sunday. If it can maintain this momentum and successfully navigate the crucial Monday assessment, Sky Force stands a good chance for a prolonged and prosperous theatrical run.

Sky Force's opening day earnings and weekend performance

On its debut day, Sky Force recorded a collection of ₹12.25 crore, which fell slightly short of the expected average for a film of its scale. However, the film rebounded spectacularly on Saturday, achieving an 80% increase with earnings of ₹22 crore, effectively offsetting the initial shortfall. By the conclusion of its opening weekend, the film amassed a commendable domestic nett total of ₹61.75 crore, as reported by Sacnilk, bolstered by an additional ₹27.50 crore on Sunday.

The film's producers claimed that Sky Force generated over ₹40 crore in its first two days, indicating that the actual opening weekend total might approach ₹70 crore.

Performance in international markets

Sky Force has also performed reasonably well in international markets, accumulating over ₹5 crore in earnings after just two days of release, with a total of $600,000. It is noteworthy that the film is expected to achieve strong results in India, consistent with the performance of most of Akshay Kumar's films.

Both critics and audiences have praised the film, contributing to its overall success. It is hoped that Sky Force will navigate its first week without a significant decline. The outcome of the pivotal Monday will be crucial in determining its overall box office performance.

Historical inspiration and cast

The film Sky Force draws loose inspiration from the 1965 Indo-Pakistani air war, particularly the attack on the Sargodha airbase by Pakistan. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, the film features notable performances from Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, alongside significant roles by Sharad Kelkar and Sara Ali Khan, with a cameo appearance by Nimrat Kaur.
