The competition to release films on Independence Day 2024 (August 15) was fierce, with filmmakers from both the South and the Hindi circuits staking their claims. The first two massive movies to mark their territory were Rohit Shetty’s Singham Returns, headlined by Ajay Devgn and a streak of actors, and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, also starring Rashmika Mandanna. Later, John Abraham’s Veda, which stars Manushi Chillar alongside him, joined the fray. However, rumours recently began to circulate that the first two films might not make their August 15 deadline and could get new release dates. While the makers of Pushpa 2 have yet to confirm, Ajay Devgn confirmed yesterday that Singham Again is getting pushed and has now set a new massive release date. 

Singham Again Pushed To Diwali 2024

Yesterday, we learned that Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again will not be released on August 15, as the movie is still in post-production. Fans were left wondering when the film would hit the big screen, as it was clear that Rohit Shetty and his team would aim for a release on a public holiday. The makers have now decided to release the film on Diwali 2024. Here is everything you need to know about the new release date.

Ajay Devgn confirmed in an Instagram post that Singham Again will now “roar” on Diwali 2024. Although the post does not specify the exact date, Diwali 2024 falls on November 1, which is a Friday, making it a logical choice. However, this also means the film will not have an extended first weekend. Additionally, the film will face more competition from the South, as Ram Charan’s Game Changer, Suriya’s Kanguva, and Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyaan are all set for Diwali 2024.

What Ajay Devgn Said

At a recent media event, Ajay Devgn spoke about the delay in the release date of Singham Again. He said, "We are not sure that the film will be ready by 15th August. So, we don't want to hurry. Bahut baar jaldi jaldi me kaam kharab ho jata hai, so we will take our time and complete the film." Singham Again stars Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor alongside Ajay Devgn.

Meanwhile, the August 15 date is still very crowded. While Pushpa 2: The Rule is still scheduled for that date, as the makers have yet to confirm any postponement rumours, Akshay Kumar recently announced the release of Khel Khel Mein, and the makers of Street 2 have confirmed this morning that their release date is August 15.
