Sidharth Malhotra made his Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's directorial project Student of the Year in 2012. The filmmaker/producer has been Sidharth's mentor for several years. Apart from directing him for SOTY, Karan has backed some of Sidharth's projects as well. The latest buzz on Sidharth and Karan's professional association is that they are likely to collaborate for an action film. According to Bollywood Hungama, the actor might be seen in Karan's action movie.

Sidharth Malhotra to be seen in Karan Johar's action film?

The report suggests Sidharth is in advanced talks for Karan Johar's upcoming action film. He might play the lead role in the movie. "Sidharth Malhotra and Karan Johar share a very special bond and the latter feels that the former is meant to do action films. When he was developing the script, the name of Sid naturally crossed his mind. He narrated the film to Sid, and the actor has shown interest in mentors' action film," a trade source told the portal.

A source further stated things are expected to go in the right direction because Karan enjoys a good track record and Malhotra has immense respect for his mentor. "The dotted lines will be signed once Karan Johar locks the entire script," the report suggested. As of now, the filmmaker and Sidharth have apparently just discussed the idea. That said, the film is expected to go on floors in 2025.

Karan Johar announces his 8th directorial film

On his birthday this year, Karan Johar announced his 8th directorial movie. The filmmaker shared his picture with an 'untitled narration draft'. However, it was confirmed that the film would be directed by Karan.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan's last directorial venture was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, the romantic comedy was theatrically released in 2023. Before that, Johar helmed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
