Shivarajkumar’s gangster flick with Karthik Adwaith to kick off in August

Century Star Shivarajkumar, who, for a while was busy with three films – Bhairathi Ranagal, 45 and Uttarakaanda – has begun lining up the next lot to take up. The actor, who has at least a dozen films in the pipeline with various filmmakers, recently completed Bhairathi Ranagal, while 45 is also nearly done. With his schedule opening up, the actor has now announced that he will begin work on his 131st film, the as-yet-untitled gangster flick by director Karthik Adwaith in August.

Karthik’s film is the one that will have Shivarajkumar in the role of Deva, a violent gangster, a teaser for which had been released on the actor’s birthday a few days ago. The muhurtha of the film is expected to be held shortly, details of which were hashed out recently when the team met the actor at his residence. A formal announcement about the start of the project is expected shortly.

Karthik’s film is being produced by NS Reddy and Sudheer, and will have Kantara-fame cinematographer AJ Shetty handling the camera, while, Deepu S Kumar will fill in as editor. Sam CS, the composer of hits like Vikram Vedha, RDX and Kaithi forays into Kannada cinema with #Shivanna131.

In fact, the film is Karthik’s Kannada film debut as well. He made the Vikram Prabhu-led Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku earlier. The action thriller will have Ghost dialogue writer VM Prasanna and Jayakrishna of Seetharamam on the writing team. The team is looking at giving Shivarajkumar not only a different look, but a unique role as well.

Shivarajkumar, meanwhile, is also expected to begin work on Hemanth M Rao’s next, Bhairavana Kone PaaTa. His next release, though, will be his home production, Bhairathi Ranagal, the prequel and sequel of Mufti, directed by Narthan. The film was earlier announced to be an Independence Day release, but has been pushed ahead to September. The team has not formally revealed the date, but it is said to be September 26 or 27, along with NTR Jr’s Devara.
