When Shivarajkumar showed up at the press conference to celebrate the wrap of his film 45, which is the first directorial project for composer Arjun Janya, he looked pretty unwell and seemed to be in a lot of pain. Just a few days later, whispers started circulating that the actor was facing more than just a simple fever, which he later addressed while promoting his upcoming film Bhairathi Ranagal.

He confirmed that he had been diagnosed with something and was receiving treatment, but he kept the specifics to himself. Shivarajkumar mentioned that he felt a bit scared at first, but thanks to the support from his family, friends, and fans, he managed to push through and follow the treatment plan. In one interview, he revealed that he had undergone a couple of rounds of chemotherapy. He also mentioned that surgery was on the horizon, and his family was debating whether to take him to the US for it or have it done in India.

Shivarajkumar's US schedule

Shivarajkumar and his wife, Geetha, have confirmed that the family will be heading to Miami, Florida, on December 18 for his surgery, which is set for December 24. After the surgery, he’ll likely enter rehab for at least a month, depending on how everything goes and what further treatment he might need.

He paused his work after wrapping up 45, but he’s still been involved with Dance Karnataka Dance during his treatment. Once he’s back, probably in late January or early February, he’s expected to dive into the untitled #Shivanna131 project and a film by Hemanth M Rao.

His latest film, Bhairathi Ranagal, which he produced, is still showing in theaters, and there’s talk of it hitting OTT platforms around Christmas. He also has a significant role in A for Anand, a kids' movie directed by MG Srinivas, and a cameo in his daughter Niveditha’s debut project, Firefly. Firefly, directed by Vamshi, was initially set for a Deepavali release but got delayed. It’s now anticipated to hit theaters in February, right after Shivarajkumar returns.
