Shahid Kapoor is in full swing promoting his new movie, Deva, where he stars alongside Pooja Hegde and is directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Fans are really enjoying the trailer and the songs, and they're excited to see Shahid take on a more chaotic role. After the trailer launch at a big event, some folks noticed that his character in Deva seems a bit like Kabir Singh. For context, Kabir Singh, directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy, was the Hindi version of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy. Even though it got some harsh reviews from critics, it turned out to be one of the top-grossing Bollywood films of 2019. While promoting Deva, Shahid talked about whether his characters share any similarities. 

Shahid Kapoor shares his thoughts on Deva and Kabir Singh

In Deva, Shahid takes on the role of a cop, diving into some intense action scenes. Meanwhile, Pooja portrays a journalist in the movie. While promoting the film recently, Shahid mentioned that although his character is pretty aggressive, it's not the same as Kabir Singh. 

The actor mentioned that while Deva is definitely an intense character, he’s not at all like Kabir Singh. He emphasized that Deva stands out on his own and isn’t similar to any other roles he’s played. He pointed out that before the release of 'Kabir Singh', people would often ask if he was like Tommy Singh from ‘Udta Punjab’, highlighting how folks tend to make comparisons without even seeing the film first.

Pooja Hegde refers to Shahid Kapoor as a "great therapist."

Pooja, however, referred to Shahid as a 'great therapist.' She shared that during their travels, they chat about life and careers. She mentioned, "We were in the car for about an hour, and he was just sharing thoughts on life and work. We had this deep conversation, and it was super inspiring." 

Pooja shared her thoughts on her character and explained her decision to take on the role in Deva. She mentioned, "There are times when you’re drawn to a director, and other times it’s all about the character. I’ve made a choice to pursue roles that truly resonate with me as an actor. I was really drawn to the character in ‘Deva.’"

Deva, featuring Kubbra Sait and Pavail Gulati, is set to release in theaters on January 31, 2025.
