Veteran actress Shabana Azmi is one of the most celebrated actresses in Indian cinema. Today, September 24, marks an extraordinary milestone in her life as she completes 50 years in the film industry. Besides being an extraordinary actress, Azmi also holds the record for the most National Film Awards won by any actress in the history of Indian cinema, with an impressive five wins. Today, her debut film Ankur also completed 50 years of release, and here's where you can stream the film on OTT.  

Where to watch Ankur on OTT as it clocks 50 years

Helmed by Shyam Benegal, Ankur is available for streaming on Prime Video and ShemarooMe. You can also stream the film on OTTplay Premium with a subscription. Along with Shabana Azmi, the film also stars Sadhu Meher, Anant Nag, Priya Tendulkar, Dalip Tahil, Aga Mohammed Hussain, Mirza Qadir Ali Baig, Hemant Jeshwant Rao, Master Satyanarayan, and Shesham Raju. 

The narrative of the film revolves around class differences and conflict between families. The official synopsis of the film reads: "It all starts after an extramarital affair between an attractive village laborer, Lakshmi (Shabana Azmi) and her young employer, Surya (Anant Nag), leaves her pregnant. How will this affect Lakshmi? Will Surya ever own up?"

Meanwhile, as Shaban Azmi also completes 50 years in the film industry with Ankur, Zoya Akhtar's production house, Tiger Baby, took to their social media account and celebrated the actress with a special video that has glimpses of her from some of her iconic films. In the caption, they wrote: "A journey through her fearless performances and timeless artistry, since 1974. #50YearsOfShabanaInCinema" They also mentioned the names of her initial iconic films including Ankur (1974), Arth (1982), Khandhar (1984), Paar (1985), Godmother (1999), and Madame Sousatka (1988). 

While a lot of social media users sent their heartfelt wishes to Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar commented on the post: "50 years more please"
