The trailer for Netflix's upcoming series Dabba Cartel was unveiled at an elaborate event in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. The occasion took place at Mehboob Studios, where the complete cast and the production team were present. Following the trailer's release, a question-and-answer session with the media featured Shabana Azmi, one of the lead actors, who made a surprising revelation by stating that she had attempted to have two cast members, including Jyotika, removed from the production.
Shabana Azmi on Jyotika
Dabba Cartel features an impressive cast including Shabana Azmi, Gajraj Rao, Jyotika, Nimisha Sajayan, Shalini Pandey, Anjali Anand, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Sengupta, Lillete Dubey, and Bhupendra Singh Jadawat. During a media interaction, director Hitesh Bhatia was questioned about the challenges of coordinating the ensemble cast. In a moment of honesty, Shabana revealed, "I must admit, there were two actresses I considered replacing. One of them is Jyotika. She is unaware, but I genuinely wished to have her replaced with another actress. I even suggested to Farhan and Shibani that we should cast someone else."
As Jyotika responded with laughter to Shabana's frank admission, the seasoned actress continued, "Fortunately, they stood their ground. Shibani insisted, 'You can do whatever you like, but we are not altering the cast.' I am thankful they disregarded my suggestion, as it allowed me the opportunity to collaborate with her." When inquired about the identity of the other actress, Shabana simply stated, "She is not present."
