ZEE5, having recently acquired the critically acclaimed Tamil film Kudumbasthan, is preparing for the launch of its new original series titled Seruppugal Jaakirathai. The announcement was made on Thursday via social media, accompanied by the release of the first look poster. Seruppugal Jaakirathai is scheduled to premiere on March 28.

ZEE5 Tamil, part of the OTTplay Premium offerings, is introducing a new Tamil original titled Seruppugal Jaakirathai, which will debut on ZEE5 on March 28. The first look poster features a slipper prominently, with characters depicted reaching out to grasp it, alongside a visibly worried expression. The film stars actors Singampuli, Vivek Rajagopal, Iraa Agarwal, and Manohar in leading roles.

While direct-to-OTT premieres and original content are relatively rare, Seruppugal Jaakirathai will be among the first Tamil originals released this year. Directed by Rajesh Soosairaj, the film's technical team includes K Gangadaran as the cinematographer and LV Muthu Ganesh as the music composer. The editing is handled by Wilsi J Sasi, and the production is overseen by S Singaravelan. Although specific details about the plot remain scarce, the poster suggests a comedic theme, particularly for Singampuli, who is well-known for his comedic performances in Tamil cinema.

ZEE5 has also secured the post-theatrical streaming rights for Kudumbasthan, a recently released family drama featuring Manikandan in the lead role. Despite the numerous family dramas produced in Tamil cinema, Kudumbasthan, directed by debutant filmmaker Rajeshwar Kalisamy, stands out. He co-wrote the script and screenplay with actor Prasanna Balachandran, who plays a significant role in the film.

The cast also includes Sanvee, Guru Somasundaram, and others, and Kudumbasthan received a positive response upon its release. The narrative centers on a sole breadwinner who faces the challenge of managing his family's expenses after losing his job.
