We had earlier reported that the sequel of the upcoming Tamil film Sardar 2, featuring actor Karthi in the lead role, has gone on floors. In a tragic turn of events, a member of the team working on the film died due to the injuries he suffered after the accident on the set of the film.

Accident occurs on the sets of Sardar 2

The makers of Sardar 2, the upcoming film starring Karthi in the lead role, released a press statement informing the demise of one of the crew members of the film on the sets. Elumalai, a member of the stunt union who was working on the sets of Sardar 2, succumbed to injuries and died. On Tuesday, after wrapping up the shooting for the stunt sequences of the day, the late technician accidentally fell from a 20ft rostrum and suffered injuries, the press release said.

It further said that Elumalai was rushed to a multi-speciality hospital and was treated by doctors. However, he died around 11.30 despite receiving medical treatment. Sardar 2 is written and directed by filmmaker PS Mithran and stars Karthi in the lead role. Prince Pictures is bankrolling the sequel.

Sardar is a spy thriller film which features Karthi in a double role as Agent Sardar Chandra Bose and Inspector Vijay Prakash. The film was released for Diwali in 2022 and became one of the commercial hits of that year. The film is available for streaming on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium. It stars Rajisha Vijayan, Laila, Raashii Khanna, Chunkey Pandey and others who played important roles in the film.

Recently, the makers of Sardar 2 had announced that dynamic actor SJ Suryah has joined the cast of the sequel. In all probabilities, the actor will be playing the antagonist in the film. George C Williams ISC is the cinematographer and Vijay Velukutty will serve as the editor.
