It was previously announced that a sequel to the 2022 Tamil spy action thriller Sardar, featuring actor Karthi, is currently in production. On Monday, in celebration of Eid, the team unveiled the first look poster of the film on social media. The sequel is penned and directed by PS Mithran, who also directed the original installment.

Sardar 2: First look out; Sam CS replaces Yuvan Shankar Raja as composer

The makers of the upcoming Tamil sequel, Sardar 2, have unveiled the first look poster on social media. Karthi reprises his lead role, having portrayed dual characters in the original film. PS Mithran will continue his role as director for this sequel.

The poster features Karthi with a prominent beard, dressed in a suit, as he gazes directly at the viewer while holding a sword in a striking pose. As filming progresses, it has been confirmed that Sam CS will take over the music direction from Yuvan Shankar Raja, marking a reunion with Karthi following their collaboration on Kaithi.

Sardar 2 is set to be released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada, although a specific release date has not yet been announced. In addition to Karthi, the cast includes SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, and Rajisha Vijayan. The sequel is currently in production under the Prince Pictures banner.

Where to watch Sardar on OTT?

Sardar is among the initial Tamil films to be acquired by Aha Tamil after its theatrical release. Viewers can access the film through an OTTplay Premium subscription at reduced rates.

The movie stars Karthi in two distinct roles, centering on a police officer who unravels a complex network of deceit, corruption, and conspiracy while probing an international crime syndicate. Additionally, Karthi portrays his father, a disgraced spy who returns to assist in solving the case. Key performances are also delivered by Raashi Khanna, Chunky Pandey, and Laila.
