Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B: Hemanth M Rao Portrays Manu as a Stalker and Control Freak in His Redemption Arc
12 days ago | 5 Views
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B has finally premiered in theaters, revealing the fate of Manu (Rakshit Shetty) and Priya (Rukmini Vasanth). At the conclusion of Side A, Manu decided not to further complicate Priya’s life and ostensibly set her free, leading her to marry Deepak (JP Thuminad). (Mild spoilers follow, primarily derived from the trailer.) The narrative resumes a decade later, with Manu recently released from prison, yet he remains unable to forget his feelings for Priya. To move on and create a new future, he feels compelled to see Priya one last time. Ignoring the counsel of his former cellmate Prakasha (Gopalkrishna Deshpande), he locates Priya, only to discover that she is leading a rather unfulfilling life, far removed from the dreams she once shared with Manu. Acknowledging that this situation is a result of his past actions, Manu resolves to amend the consequences of his earlier mistakes.
On the surface, the concept appears intriguing; however, director Hemanth M Rao's portrayal of Manu's quest for redemption reveals a relentless pursuer who disregards consent and imposes his own beliefs about what is best for Priya. Her agreement is of no consequence, as she is entirely excluded from the decisions Manu makes regarding her future. The other characters in the story merely serve as instruments in this overarching plan. Additionally, the filmmaker seems to overlook a fundamental principle of marriage: the commitment between a man and a woman to support one another through both joyous and challenging times. Is it so far-fetched to consider that after a decade with Deepak, Priya might harbor feelings of discontent about her current situation while still holding onto hope for a brighter future that they could create together? In the film, Priya intentionally relinquishes her voice, symbolizing her desire to sing; however, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that she never possessed that voice in the first place. The question "Yaak maadde, Manu?" can only be addressed by Hemanth, as Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (comprising both Side A and B) focuses solely on the protagonist, neglecting the characters of Katthe and Putti entirely.
