Sanya Malhotra's highly anticipated film, Mrs., is scheduled to premiere on the OTT platform ZEE5. This film draws inspiration from Nimisha Sajayan's 2021 Malayalam feature, The Great Indian Kitchen, and narrates the story of a married woman who endeavors to pursue her aspirations while grappling with the traditional kitchen responsibilities that many Indian women face. Today, ZEE5 unveiled another impactful promotional clip in anticipation of the film's release on February 7.

The most recent promotional video for Mrs. features Richa, portrayed by Sanya, as she reminds her husband to contact the plumber. Unfortunately, this request, like her previous pleas for assistance, goes unheeded. The clip also depicts her grappling with various kitchen responsibilities, including cleaning, cooking, and serving, while her contributions remain unrecognized by her in-laws and husband. The essence of this poignant narrative lies in her struggle to pursue her dreams and passions.

ZEE5 has released a video montage that highlights Richa's challenges in an emotionally resonant manner. The accompanying caption states, "Richa—entangled in kitchen turmoil, her aspirations have been sidelined. Experience her journey of self-discovery."

Mrs. plot

Mrs. is a family drama that serves as the Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen, featuring performances by Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu. After being showcased at prestigious film festivals such as Tallinn Black Nights and the New York Indian Film Festival, Mrs. is now poised to reach a wider audience.

Directed by Arati Kadav, the narrative centres on Richa, who faces challenges in pursuing her passion for dance while attempting to integrate into her new family following an arranged marriage. The film addresses social stereotypes and the struggle against patriarchy, illuminating the realities experienced by many Indian households.

Sanya Malhotra portrays the lead character, with Nishant Dahiya taking on the role of her husband, Diwakar. The supporting ensemble includes Kanwaljit Singh as Richa's father-in-law and Aparna Ghoshal as her mother-in-law.
