Samuthirakani's Thiru Manickam, directed by Nandha Periyasamy, is gearing up for its OTT debut. The Tamil drama, which also stars Ananya, Bharathiraja, and Nassar, will be available for streaming on ZEE5 starting January 24, 2025. Here's everything you need to know about the film.

Samuthirakani’s Thiru Manickam OTT release

Thiru Manickam will be making its digital premiere on ZEE5 on January 24. The Tamil film will also be available in Kannada and Malayalam with English subtitles. Additionally, you can watch the film on OTTplay Premium too. 

It was earlier reported that Thiru Manickam, which was released in theatres in December 2024, will be available for streaming on January 31. But the Twitter handle of ZEE5 Tamil announced on Tuesday that the film will be coming to the OTT platform sooner on January 24.

Thiru Manickam plot and cast

In Thiru Manickam, Samuthirakani stars as Manickam, a man living on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu with his wife and two children. He struggles to make ends meet by selling lottery tickets at his shop while managing various family responsibilities. The story takes a turn when a poor elderly man buys a lottery ticket from his shop, promising to pay later. To Manickam’s surprise, the ticket wins the bumper prize, leaving him in a dilemma.

Ananya portrays Manickam’s wife, Sumathi, while Bharathiraja plays the elderly man. Nassar also features as a fellow lottery ticket seller, with supporting roles from Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, and Ilavarasu, among others.

Directed and scripted by Nanda Periyasamy, Thiru Manickam features music composed by Vishal Chandrashekhar. Tamil family drama enthusiasts can look forward to adding this film to their weekend watchlist.

This week saw the OTT release of the highly anticipated Viduthalai Part 2 on Prime Video. The film, directed by Vetrimaaran, stars Vijay Sethupathi and Soori in lead roles and serves as the sequel to Viduthalai Part 1, which is available for streaming on ZEE5.
