Sikandar worldwide box office collection on day 2: The action thriller Sikandar, featuring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, received a mix of reviews from audiences and critics alike. Despite this, the film successfully crossed the ₹100 crore milestone globally.
Sikandar crosses ₹100 crore mark worldwide
As reported by the production company, Sikandar had a solid opening at the box office, earning ₹35.47 crore gross in India and ₹19.25 crore gross internationally, resulting in a total of ₹54.72 crore for its first day. On the second day, the film experienced a slight increase, generating ₹39.37 crore gross in India and ₹11.80 crore gross overseas, bringing the day's total to ₹51.17 crore. Consequently, the film's cumulative worldwide earnings now amount to ₹105.89 crore.
These figures indicate that Salman Khan's film has outperformed the Day 2 global earnings of Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which recorded ₹100 crore. However, according to Sacnilk, the film's Indian collection was reported at ₹55 crore (₹26 crore on Day 1 and ₹29 crore on Day 2), with a worldwide total of ₹95.75 crore.
During the trailer launch event, Salman expressed confidence in the film's success, stating, "Eid, Diwali, New Year, festive or non-festive—it’s the love of the people. Regardless of a film's quality, they ensure it crosses ₹100 crore." He later amended his statement, asserting that this film would exceed the ₹200 crore mark, remarking, " ₹100 crore is a thing of the past."
About Sikandar
Sikandar signifies Salman’s return to the big screen during his cherished festival—Eid—following the underperformance of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in 2023. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi, and Sathyaraj in prominent roles. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film has garnered praise from Salman’s fans for his action-oriented portrayal, while some viewers have criticized its lackluster plot and subpar visual effects.
An excerpt from the Hindustan Times' critique of Sikandar states, "The screenplay and direction, both handled by AR Murugadoss, lack engagement. The film opens with Salman's entrance, leaving little anticipation for what follows, as the scenes appear hurried, particularly in the first half. Vivek Harshan's editing is disjointed. Although the second half had the potential to be impactful, its emotional resonance is absent due to a straightforward narrative style. It resembles a simplified iteration of a classic masala film."
