Filmmaker Atlee was reportedly set to collaborate with Bollywood icon Salman Khan for his upcoming directorial project, provisionally titled A6. The film was expected to be produced with an impressive budget of Rs 500 crore. However, recent developments indicate that the project has been temporarily halted due to casting complications. According to media sources, Atlee and Khan had sought the involvement of Hollywood actor Will Smith for the film.

Will Smith was approached for Salman Khan-Atlee's film?

A report from Bollywood Hungama suggests that Atlee was particularly interested in casting Will Smith after attempts to include veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth did not materialize.

A source informed the entertainment portal that "Salman facilitated the connection between Atlee and Will Smith, and discussions were progressing positively. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Sun Pictures insisted on including a South Indian superstar alongside Salman in the film."

It appears that Sun Pictures maintains a firm policy of supporting major productions featuring South Indian stars. Following the unsuccessful casting of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the production company distanced itself from the project, advising Atlee to pause and reassess the situation.

Regarding the current status of the film, a source stated, "Atlee and Salman are still in discussions and are working to address all concerns with Sun Pictures. Both are eager to collaborate on this project, as it represents a shared aspiration. We anticipate a clearer understanding of the A6 situation with Salman Khan by the end of March."

Salman Khan's next film

In the meantime, Salman Khan is preparing for his upcoming film, Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, this film is scheduled for a theatrical release on Eid 2025 and features a cast that includes Rashmika Mandanna, Pooja Hegde, Sathyaraj, and Prateik Babbar.
