Salman Bows Out of Sequel Plans – Sikandar's Debacle to Blame?
19 days ago | 5 Views
Salman Khan, once the undebated king at the Box Office, has been struggling to get his movies to work in the post-pandemic era. His most recent movie Sikandar is the latest example of how his stardom has taken a hit. But is that a reason why filmmakers, including Sooraj Barjatya, would not want to cast the actor in sequels of his own movies, too? Sooraj Barjatya made it very clear that if there ever is a sequel to Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman Khan would not be cast in it. Here's why...
Is Sikandar debacle the reason why Sooraj Barjatya doesn't want to cast Salman Khan in Maine Pyar Kiya sequel?

"I would not want to create a sequel with them, and even if I were approached to create a sequel to Maine Pyar Kiya, it would feature a new cast," Sooraj Barjatya informed Times of India when questioned about a Maine Pyar Kiya sequel. The director did not reference the Sikandar failure or indicate that Radhe actor Salman Khan would be specifically replaced. He would prefer to produce the film with an entirely new cast. Regarding future collaborations with both Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit, the director is certainly receptive to the notion if he discovers a script that merits it. "After reaching a certain age, you trust a good film more than a star," Barjatya stated.
Sooraj Barjatya's definition of good films and what's lacking in Bollywood today
Sooraj Barjatya believes that Bollywood should return to its roots and rediscover simplicity, where dreams flourished. "Maintaining the Prince Charming alive in our films is crucial," he observed, pointing out that although the contemporary world's dating culture has evolved, everyone still longs for a lasting romance deep down.
Sikandar debacle

Salman Khan has been facing challenges at the Box Office with his film, Sikandar. Although the movie has managed to recover losses through digital rights, Sikandar was expected to earn Rs. 200 crore at the Box Office. Unfortunately, due to the change in marketing strategy (Sunday release closer to Eid) and film leak, Sikandar has found it hard to exceed the Rs. 100 crore threshold. The film is currently generating earnings in lakhs and could be removed from theaters soon. This marks a considerable setback for the superstar who has been struggling to exceed his film's budget at the Box Office in the post-COVID era. From Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai to Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and even Tiger 3, Salman’s films have not managed to attain superhit status, let alone being labeled as a blockbuster (with the exception of Pathaan, in which he appeared only in a cameo role).
