The film Sahaj Paather Gappo was released on October 23, 2016. That was the debut of director Manas Mukul Pal. The film created a buzz among the cinelovers, critics, and common people. Seven years passed since then, but the director did not make any other film. 

It was once heard that Manas was making a biopic of freedom fighter Dinesh Gupta. Mithun Chakraborty and Soumitra Chatterjee were supposed to act in the biopic. Soumitra Chatterjee is no more and Covid has changed many aspects of our life. Tollywood rumors say that Manas Mukul is making another project with Mithun Chakraborty. The film, Ajantrik, tells the story of a father and his son. Camelia Productions is producing the film. 

Then what about Dinesh Gupta's biopic? Manas did not want to say anything about Ajantrik. In an interview with Hindustan Times Bangla, he said, “I don't know that I am making such a film. People are saying that and I am listening to them. But I really don't know where such rumors come from.” 

Manas said, “My struggle with Dinesh Gupta's biopic is still on. I turned down offers of twelve or fourteen films for this project. My aim is to make a biopic. This is a big-budget film. Funding has been an issue since Covid. The entire amount of money has not been arranged yet, but I hope to arrange it. Some of the works were done in 2020 and 2021, but from then on the works have stopped. Hence many things in the set are getting wasted because of lying idle.” 

Who is producing the biopic? Manas revealed that he did not ask for any production house in Bengal. “There are many people who have money and who can invest if they want to. I asked some such people. I am making an independent film. Mithun Chakraborty has also helped a lot and is still helping so that the film is made,” he said.  

Will such a big-budget film be made only in Bengali? 'I wish to make it only in Bengali...but let's see what happens. Some of the works moved forward.' 

Manas previously said that, just like Sahaj Paather Gappo, he is working with many new faces in the biopic. The pre-independence history will be shown in the film. Some of the shooting is to take place in Bangladesh. Before working in Projapoti, Mithun was supposed to come back to Bengali films with this biopic. But COVID changed many equations.
