The 2013 Rajyotsava release Raja Huli was Rocking Star Yash’s third consecutive hit after Drama and Googly and holds a special place for its depiction of village life, friendship, etc., even though it is a remake. Raja Huli is director Guru Deshpande’s Kannada version of the Tamil hit Sundarapandian. This was not Yash’s first time playing a village boy, but his look in the film – including the big moustache, silk shirt and white panche – was widely liked.
The film, which was a major commercial success back then, is now headed back to theatres. On July 26, Raja Huli will re-release in select theatres, so this is your chance to catch the film again. The film, which boasts music by Hamsalekha, paired Yash with Meghana Raj – her comeback to Kannada cinema after a brief hiatus.

10 years of Raja Huli: The film that firmly cemented Yash as ‘The Next Big Thing’
The film had Yash as the title character Raja Huli, the son of a local landlord in Mandya, whose life revolves around his friends, so much so that he’d go to any extent to help them. When one of them, then, requests Raja Huli to help convey the former’s feelings of love for a particular girl, it turns out that she carries a torch for him, instead. What happens when Raja Huli is then accused of murder and has his friends turn foes forms the rest of the narrative.
