Rishi, the Kannada actor, is set to release his upcoming film, Rudhra Garuda Purana, a thriller that, according to the trailer, incorporates themes of dark magic. In this film, Rishi portrays Rudhra, a dedicated police officer tasked with solving a perplexing case that has stumped his fellow officers and yielded no advancements. The case revolves around the disappearance of Manu, the son of a current MLA, who has been missing for a week without any leads, except for the fact that he boarded the 17A Kaveri bus with his girlfriend.

The importance of 17A Kaveri in Rudhra Garuda Purana

Rudhra's investigation uncovers that the bus numbered 17A Kaveri has been inactive for twenty-five years following an accident. The question arises: how has this bus resurfaced after such a long absence? “The narrative of Rudhra Garuda Purana commences with the enigma of a bus that has not been seen for a quarter of a century, along with the events that unfold following its return. When director KS Nandeesh shared the storyline, my immediate thought was, ‘How can this be?’ However, I realized that if I had questions and a desire for further understanding, the audience would likely share the same curiosity. Could it involve black magic, or is there someone manipulating the protagonist? There are numerous potential explanations for the situation,” Rishi explains.

The primary challenge for Rudhra, the actor notes, lies in confronting an adversary that is not visible. “In terms of storytelling, it appeared to be highly captivating and well-suited for a cinematic presentation,” he remarks. The film is set to premiere in theatres on January 24 and features a cast that includes Giri Shivanna, Avinash, Shivaraj KR Pete, KS Sridhar, Priyanka, among others.

Rishi is presently enjoying the acclaim of the Telugu Sankranti blockbuster Daaku Maharaj, a film featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna in which he plays one of the antagonistic roles. The actor, who made his Telugu debut with the series Shaitaan, has indicated that he is currently engaged with several commitments in the Telugu film industry, in addition to having two Kannada films scheduled. He has not yet confirmed or refuted rumours regarding his participation in Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, although there is speculation that this Mani Ratnam project may serve as his debut in Kollywood.
