Following a theatrical release of under a month, director Aashiq Abu's Malayalam thriller Rifle Club has now become available on OTT platforms. This film, which signifies Anurag Kashyap's debut in Malayalam cinema and includes rapper Hanumankind, known for his association with Big Dawgs, in a significant role, is currently streaming on Netflix in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

Rifle Club, with a screenplay crafted by Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Karunakaran Nair, and Suhas, also saw Aashiq Abu take on the roles of cinematographer and co-producer.

Rifle Club on OTT: When, where to watch film

Netflix acquired the OTT rights for the film prior to its release on December 20. According to industry analysts Sacnilk, Rifle Club concluded its theatrical run with a total box office collection nearing Rs 16 Cr in India.

Although the film received predominantly favourable reviews, it encountered stiff competition from other Christmas releases in Kerala, such as Unni Mukundan’s Marco, Mohanlal’s Barroz, and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s Extra Decent.

Earlier this week, Netflix announced that the film will be available on its platform starting January 16, in all South Indian languages as well as Hindi.

What is Rifle Club’s plot?

The film centres on a confrontation between two factions: a gang led by an arms dealer and the members of a shooting club located in Wayanad. Following an altercation with Dayanand (Anurag), the son of the arms dealer, two young men find themselves in a precarious situation in Mangalore. In their quest for assistance, they turn to a renowned superstar, Shanavas (Vineeth Kumar), who provides them refuge at a rifle club. Equipped solely with their exceptional marksmanship, the club members confront the gang on their home ground. However, the question remains: will their skills suffice against the advanced weaponry that the gang brings to the encounter?

Aashiq has crafted this film as a homage to Western cinema, infused with an Indian essence, thereby enhancing its appeal to viewers.

The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, featuring Vani Vishwanath, Darshana Rajendran, Surabhi Lakshmi, Suresh Krishna, Unnimaya Prasad, and Vijayaraghavan, making Rifle Club a must-watch on Netflix.
