Suriya is making a comeback with a fun-filled masala flick! The team behind Retro just dropped the much-awaited trailer for his upcoming movie. With vibrant visuals and eye-catching outfits for Suriya's character, a local gangster, the trailer guarantees a perfect mix of action, humor, and romance!

The nearly three-minute trailer features Suriya's character experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. He promises his love interest, portrayed by Pooja Hegde, that he will abandon his tough-guy ways and avoid violence. However, sticking to that promise proves to be a challenge, as he continually finds himself in situations where he ends up taking down the bad guys.

We watch as he angrily punches a hole in the wall, takes down men with brutal force, and shares a smoke and a drink with others. There are also brief appearances from other intimidating characters, portrayed by Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Nasser, among others.

Reactions from fans

After watching the trailer, one fan shared, “Karthik Subbaraj and Suriya together!” Another fan chimed in, “This looks like a special treat for Suriya fans ❤❤ love you, Suriya.” Someone else commented, “Suriya is making a grand return!”

The film Retro is produced by Suriya and his wife Jyothika's production company, 2D Entertainment, along with Stone Bench Films. Its tagline is: Love, Laughter, and War. The music is by Santhosh Narayanan, with cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. It’s set to hit theaters on May 1, 2025.

Suriya's most recent role was in Kanguva, where he portrayed a warrior named Kanguva. He also takes on the role of a bounty hunter named Francis. The film featured Disha Patani and Sunny Deol but didn’t do well at the box office.
