Rekhachithram, featuring Asif Ali alongside Anaswara Rajan, has garnered acclaim from both critics and audiences alike. Asif Ali, the lead actor in this Malayalam thriller, shared a promotional poster on Monday, revealing that the film has generated over Rs 75 crore in global revenue.
The film remains in theatres and is anticipated to generate additional revenue in the upcoming days, with certain fans optimistic about the leading actor achieving his first entry into the Rs 100-crore club. However, reaching the Rs 100 crore milestone appears to be a significant challenge for the Asif Ali-starrer, especially as the film approaches the completion of its one-month screening period at the box office.
Other Malayalam releases
Basil Joseph's film Ponman and Vineeth Sreenivasan's Oru Jaathi Jathakam premiered in theatres last week. While Ponman received favourable reviews, its box office performance has been only moderately successful.
This week, the sole significant Malayalam release is Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal, featuring Joju George and Suraj Venjaramoodu, set to debut in theatres on February 7, 2025. However, the box office landscape is poised for a shift the following week with the release of several high-budget films, including Mammootty's Bazooka on February 14. In addition to the megastar's project, other films such as Painkili, starring Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu; Bromance by Arjun Ashokan; and Daveed featuring Antony Varghese are also scheduled for release on Valentine's Day.
The OTT release of Rekhachithram is highly anticipated. Reports indicate that SonyLiv has acquired the streaming rights for the film. While official confirmation is still pending, it is expected that Rekhachithram will be available on the platform following the conclusion of its theatrical run.
