Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan's mystery thriller, Rekhachithram, has already established itself as the first Malayalam blockbuster of 2025 and is poised to surpass Rs 50 Cr in global box office earnings by its second weekend. After generating Rs 17.23 Cr in India and exceeding Rs 40 Cr internationally during its opening week, the film added Rs 0.88 Cr in India on Day 8, according to the industry tracking platform Sacnilk.

By the conclusion of Day 8, the film's total box office revenue is nearing Rs 45 Cr, with expectations of an increase on Friday and throughout the upcoming weekend.

Rekhachithram Day 8 box office update: Film records lowest single-day collection

Despite the favourable reception and record earnings, Day 8 witnessed a decline in the film's performance, as its gross in the Indian market fell below Rs 1.25 Cr for the first time. This downturn was anticipated, given that Thursday coincided with a weekend and also marked the release of Basil Joseph and Soubin Shahir’s Pravinkoodu Shappu in theatres.

The latter film has garnered mixed reviews and shares a similar genre with Rekhachithram, making it uncertain which film will attract the audience this weekend. While Pravinkoodu Shappu leans towards a mystery thriller infused with dark comedy, Rekhachithram may resonate more with family viewers, who typically constitute the majority of ticket sales during the second week of a film's theatrical run in Kerala.

Rekhachithram deleted scene released

The producers of Rekhachithram have unveiled a highly anticipated deleted scene from the film. This scene garnered significant attention as it included a junior artist, to whom Asif had pledged the release of the sequence.

Directed by Jofin T Chacko, the film also incorporates AI-generated sequences showcasing Mammootty during its flashback segments, which are set against the backdrop of the Kaathodu Kaathoram shooting location.
