The period drama Razakar, which was heavily promoted ahead of its release on March 15, 2025, failed to perform well at the box office despite featuring several well-known actors in lead roles.

Initially, the makers of Razakar faced challenges in securing an OTT partner for its digital release. However, Aha stepped in, acquiring the rights for a significant sum and streaming the film from January 24, 2025.

The Anasuya Bharadwaj starrer has made a strong debut on Aha, amassing over 30 million streaming minutes and consistently trending at the top of Aha’s charts. With no major OTT releases in recent weeks, the film has successfully attracted a large audience.

The makers of Razakar ensured the film remained in the spotlight ahead of its OTT debut, helping it build momentum on the platform. The absence of major OTT releases during the Sankranthi season created a gap, which worked to the film’s advantage.

Set in the Nizam era, the movie delves into the oppressive Razakar rule and its impact on the common people of Hyderabad. Bobby Simha and Vedhika delivered notable performances, while Anasuya Bharadwaj’s powerful portrayal has become a highlight since the film’s release on Aha. Clips of her heartfelt performance have been widely shared on social media, earning widespread praise.

Although Razakar struggled at the box office despite its hefty production budget, its OTT release has proven to be a blessing in disguise, securing the makers a stable financial position.
