Randeep Hooda's directorial debut, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, has been making waves due to a controversy linked to the freedom fighter. The film suggests that Veer Savarkar played a role in motivating other freedom fighters, such as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh, in their quest for Indian Independence.

In an interview with News18, Randeep mentioned that this controversy has been around since the days when there were only three political parties in India. "If he was labeled as ‘maafi-veer’, why did the British imprison him for 27 years? That's a question worth pondering. It's important to do your own research on this," the actor stated.

Savarkar or Bose?

Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has challenged the claim. In an interview with India Today, he stated, "Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose drew inspiration from just two remarkable figures. The first is Swami Vivekananda, who served as his spiritual guide, and the second is Deshbandhu Chitranjan Das, who was his political mentor. I believe that aside from these two, Netaji was not influenced by any other freedom fighters."
