The sorrow associated with the loss of a loved one is a profound emotion that many adults struggle to comprehend. How much more challenging must it be for a young child who has experienced the loss of both parents? This poignant theme is the focus of debut director Sumanth Bhat in his critically acclaimed film, Mithya, set to premiere in theatres on March 7.

In anticipation of the film's release, the trailer, produced by Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios, is scheduled to debut on February 26 at 6 pm, coinciding with the significant occasion of Mahashivaratri. Mithya, which has garnered international acclaim at various film festivals, narrates the story of an 11-year-old boy who must confront not only the emotional turmoil following his parents' death but also the upheaval of moving from the familiar surroundings of Mumbai to Udupi, where he must navigate living with extended family amidst discussions regarding his custody.

In 2022, Rakshit made an official announcement regarding the film, stating, “How does a little heart process pain? Or does it even? Here’s an intense story full of emotional beats trying to trace answers to these questions. I was so moved when I first heard this achingly beautiful rendition,” alluding to the profound sorrow that accompanies this narrative.

The story centers around Athish Shetty, with Prakash Thumminad and Roopa Varkady also featured in the cast. The film's music is composed by Midhun Mukundan, while Udit Khurana handles the cinematography. This project represents the latest offering from Paramvah Studios, showcasing the directorial talents of Rakshit’s trusted writers, known as the Seven Odds. Following the initial release of Abhijit Mahesh’s Bachelor Party, Chandrajith Belliappa presented Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali. The upcoming film, Mithya, is next in line, with additional projects such as Abracadabra and Strawberries still awaiting release.

Rakshit has consistently emphasized the existence of a well-defined roadmap for the directors he is mentoring, allowing them to convey their narratives in their debut films using the language that resonates most with them. He expressed the aspiration that, over time, they would acquire the skills to present these stories in commercially successful formats.
