A year following its screening for a select audience at the Bengaluru International Film Festival, Mithya, directed by Sumanth Bhat and produced by Rakshit Shetty, is set to be released in theatres. Paramvah Studios, under the leadership of Rakshit Shetty, has officially announced that Mithya will premiere in cinemas on March 7.

The film, which made its debut at the Mami Mumbai Film Festival in 2023, centres on an 11-year-old boy named Mithun, who grapples with the profound sorrow of losing both of his parents. Sumanth delves into the ways children navigate grief and the difficulties they encounter in forming new relationships following such a significant loss. Atish Shetty portrays Mithun, delivering a performance that has received considerable acclaim.

Sumanth is part of the writing team known as the Seven Odds at Paramvah Studios, where each member was encouraged to create their debut films in their preferred style. Notable works under this banner include Kiranraj K’s 777 Charlie, Abhijit Mahesh’s Bachelor Party, and Chandrajith Belliappa’s Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali, among others. Mithya has enjoyed a successful festival circuit and is now set to be released in theatres.

Rakshit Shetty’s approach with the Seven Odds has been to allow them to narrate their stories as they envision them, without any compromises. He believes that this method is essential for producing quality content. He asserts that these narratives are not merely formulaic; rather, they originate from genuine emotions and have the potential to set trends. Over time, he hopes that these filmmakers will adapt their storytelling to more commercially viable formats.

While Rakshit predominantly supports films written by his team, the responsibility of evaluating scripts that reach Paramvah Studios lies with the members of the Seven Odds. If at least two members express their approval for a story, it is then presented to the actor-filmmaker for final approval. Following the release of Mithya, only Shishir Rajmohan’s Abracadabra remains pending for theatrical release.
