The world has been busy waiting for the Amazon Prime Video show Citadel: Honey Bunny, which brings the Russo Brothers’ brainchild Citadel franchise to India. The Indian branch of the show stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead. Raj & DK created and directed the show, which takes place in the past and mirrors the events of Priyanka Chopra Jonas' show. The team in Mumbai today announced the release date of the same, and that was a massive event where the teaser and the date were revealed. While the news about Honey Bunny was exciting, Varun's casual hint about Raj and DK's connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe turned out to be even more intriguing. Yes, you read that right. 

Varun Dhawan on Raj & DK’s Special Announcement 

Rumours circulated later last year, claiming that Marvel Studios had commissioned Raj & DK to write a script for an undisclosed MCU project, with the studio ultimately deciding whether to approve it or not. Since October 2023, there have been no further updates on the news. Varun Dhawan appears to have provided us with an update, potentially hinting at a premature reveal. At the Citadel: Honey Bunny event, Varun Dhawan, Samantha, Raj & DK, and Sita Menon joined forces in Mumbai to announce the show's release date and teaser. But little did the fans and media in attendance know that Varun Dhawan would give another big surprise. For context, Citadel is the brainchild of the Russo Brothers, who have directed massively successful Marvel Cinematic Universe movies such as Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War. They're now back to directing Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. When questioned about their involvement in a show featuring the Russo Brothers, Varun felt compelled to reveal the details.

Varun Dhawan, while expressing his excitement about the union, spoke about how the Russo Brothers have now returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Avengers 5 & 6. However, what he said next was even more exciting, as he pointed at creators Raj & DK and said, "We should ask Raj & DK when they are going to announce their big gig. But that is for a later announcement, I guess.” This was enough for us to believe that things are indeed moving in the right direction for Raj and DK in the real world of the MCU.

The Rumour 

A Pinkvilla report from October claimed that Marvel Studios had commissioned Raj & DK to write a script for an MCU film. The studio liked the flavour the two bring to their movies, which is why they chose them. It was said that the studio will greenlight the script if they like it, and the same will then go through several writing rooms. However, back then, there was no clarity on whether the two were only developing the script or would also be on board to direct it. There is none until now too.
