It has already been reported that director Rahool Mukherjee was asked to step down from directing SVF’s upcoming project featuring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Anirban Bhattacharya. OTTplay reported on July 21 that DOP Soumik Halder might take over the project as the director. On Monday, SVF issued an official statement confirming this. The shooting is expected to start on July 25.
In their statement, SVF said, “In light of recent development and respecting the guidelines from our stakeholders, we are excited to announce that Rahool Mukherjee has taken up the role of Creative Producer, while Soumik Halder has graciously accepted the Director’s hat for our latest untitled project, Prod no 171, starring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Priyanka Sarkar, Aparajita Adhya and others.”
The statement further added, “We are all set for this new chapter and can’t wait to bring you more updates, including the release date and other key details. Rest assured, this journey promises to be an exhilarating one!”
Earlier, last week, SVF announced the film by hosting the mahurat with the cast and crew members. Besides Prosenjit, Anirban, Priyanka, and Aparajita, the film also features Rajatava Dutta and Surajit Banerjee. Soon after that, on July 20, the Federation of Cine Technicians & Workers of Eastern issued a notice of suspension of work for Rahool for three months for unlawful shooting. The director allegedly continued shooting a Chorki web series, Lahu and thus broke multiple rules of the Federation.
Director Sudeshna Roy, general secretary of the guild and vice president of the federation, told OTTplay, “We tried our best to let Rahool off the hook. However, the rest of the Federation heads did not allow it. Out of 24 heads, 23 argued that the regulation and law should be the same for everyone. Our hands were tied.” Earlier, several other members, including the makeup artist, art director, assistant directors, and others, were also suspended under the same rule.
